August 7, 2007 - I finally make it to Bayon on this trip, the weather is not perfect but it has stopped raining. Please feel free to send me a comment - george@dpmac.com

Bayon Face
Bayon - after close to a thousand years in the same place, he is still smiling.

Bayon carving
Bayon - it is amazing that something so delicate has survived this long.

Bayon tourists
Bayon - lts of tourists and they never stop posing in front of the big faces. The guy taking a picture in this image is a government authorized tour guide, so is the other guy in the same shirt.

Bayon - four faces
Bayon four faces - unfortunately my light was very flat this day and the sky kind of white, but I think you can still imagine what it is like to have these faces all around you.
Bayon stone carving
Bayon - unfortunately many of the original stone carvings are missing and many that remain are damaged, but they are still wonderful to behold.

You can truly reach out and touch ancient history in these temples.

Bayon Face
Bayon - another incredible face that seems almost alive and ready to step out of the stone to speak to us. The white and green spots on the face are lichen.

Bayon tourists
Bayon - it can get pretty crowded in the temples and this is the low tourist season.
